Introduction

Round 1KlingonChristopher CoyleFL (-20)
Round 1 - vs startrekccggeek: I knew it was a risky strategy to use Travelers and KFCs for draws and Red Alert to drop personnel. My opening hand had 3 KFCs, I played them my first three turns and they all got Kevin'd. I played a few personnel and Equipments int he meantime, then eventually got into more of a stride when I could play The Traveler and more Kevins. He had 7 Kevins in his deck, he used 6 (one I Q2d). I got a Metaphasic Shields out and a Where No One Has Gone Before. Mr Coyle attempted first, but got shut out of the outpost mission (Medical Relief) for a while with a Matriarchal Society. He moved to Pegasus Search and attempted. Ancient Computer was passed with Kurn and Ja'Rod. Tarellian Plague Ship sent Divok to the clearing at the end of the path. REM Fatigue Hallucinations hit, then Cytherians sent the ship across the spaceline. His next turn, a Wormhole and Space-Time Portal got him to the end of the spaceline and to 20 points. The crew that encountered Fatigue Hallucinations died. Another ship went back to Pegasus Search and found a Radioactive Garbage Scow. Chris Res-Q'd Jarod, then had no way to play him (with STP discarded). The Vor'cha was sitting empty by my outpost for a couple of turns, I didn't take the opportunity to attack it, thought he could have got a crew on it and damaged me. A K'Vort attempted Pegasus, and hit a self-seeded Cytherians (which thus also hit). I was short of the Integrity to solve it, and only at this point got a Metaphasic Shields out, so didn't get across to steal it. I did attack the K'Vort on its way past, damaging it. I destroyed it next turn. I got out my Red Alert. Chris solved Pegasus Search. (+50, to 70.) I Red Alert! dumped 6 people and an Equipment. I only had one of my 3 Takkets out, and not a Medical Kit. Chris reattempted Medical Relief. 2 Vekors passed Matriarchal Society, Balancing Act was a non-issue, Crystalline Entity was passed by one Vekor, Shaka stopped him. I attempted Covert Installation, my Outpost mission. Passed Chalnoth with the Strength (5 points), FLI sent Varel where no-one else went the whole game, but still had another Varel, Sela and Toreth for the Matriarchal Society. I solved the mission, taking me to 40 points. I moved across to the next mission (Iconia Investigation) and was stopped by Q (I had 54 Integrity). Chris passed Shaka, and was stopped by Q. I reattempted, Balancing Act missed again. I could get past Shaka, and also Alien Parasites. I solved the mission, taking me to an equalising 75 points. Knowing it would probably be my last turn, I went to the other side of my Outpost to attempt Study Lonka Pulsar (had a bunch of Science-classification personnel so wasn't in danger of being blown up there, but was still stuck with 1 Medical). Takket was sacrificed to the Tarellians (taking me to 80 points), Tsiolkovsky Infection took out all my Stellar Cartography (thus unable to solve the mission), and last up was Radioactive Garbage Scow. I had the Range to take it back to the outpost, then I docked. Chris solved Medical Relief, earning an Interphase Generator. Final score: 110 to Mr Coyle, 80 to me.

Round 2 - vs sexecutioner: We had some scheduling issues with this game. Eventually we managed to arrange it for 7am my time (bit early for me, but hey)... the problem was I miscalculated and thought the game was for 5am. I did get a little sleep after I realised my mistake. Anyway, what a fun game! I played Traveler Transcendence on my first turn. He played Kivas, I flipped Spacedoor for the D'deridex. Then his Traveler hit the table, and he was lacking in Kivases for the time being. I didn't run out of Kivases, so ran right through my deck, taking the odd turn to play Metaphasic Shields, Where No One Has Gone Before, and eventually Red Alert!. He played a couple of Subspace Warp Rifts, an Espionage: Fed on Klingons, and eventually a Red Alert! after I'd played mine (he wasn't running Spacedoor, but I was). I still had a few cards left in the deck when I did my personnel and equipment dump. First of all I attempted Study Lonka Pulsar, my Outpost mission. Microbiotic Colony was easily passed. Radioactive Garbage Scow was next. I moved it to the next mission (well, the one that wasn't mine, and incidentally where his Espionage card was), but was stuck there with the Warp Rift. I went back and hit Cytherians. With WNOHGB is was quicker to go off one side of the spaceline and come back on the other, still took a couple of turns. He played a Subspace Warp Rift right where it would damage me. I didn't think to play a Kevin on it. Anyway, 15 points and a damaged ship, and back to my end of the spaceline, on the Warp Rift. On the way back to Lonka I attempted Iconia. Armus killed Toreth. FLI sent Sela to where she would never be retrieved. This left one Varel to face the doom-infested Matriarchal Society. Oh well. Niall attempted his first mission, hit a Matriarchal Society, but the Feds are packed with females so he was fine. Hologram Ruse was also easily passed, Armus killed Geordi, MLI sent Jo'Bril to his Investigate Time Continuum all the way on my end of the spaceline, Alien Parasites was passed. Next up was some self-seeded stuff. Barclay's and Chalnoth were planned for and passed, bringing him to an equalising 15 points. Betazoid Gift Box was the last self-seed. Investigate Massacre was solved, taking him to 50 points. He moved across to a space mission. Ktarian Game was easily passed, as was Ancient Computer (that damned Data!). Now for the fun stuff: Tarellian Plague Ship was next, he sacrificed an Officer with a Kit for the 5 points (55 points now). Now with no Medical, REM Fatigue hit, and Cytherians guaranteed the doom of the crew. I limped back to my Outpost, picked up Varel and the PADD. I reattempted the Outpost mission. 3 Takkets cured Tsiolkovsky Infection, taking me to 55. Niall played some stuff, moved the Enterprise. Not having the Range to get back to Iconia, I moved to Covert Installation (the closer mission in the region), but got hit by an Incoming Message. I Amanda'd that, so he played another. I Amanda'd that, he Q2'd that. I was all out of Amanadas, so I moved back to the Outpost. He played a long-awaited Medical, but he couldn't really do anything with the Yamato with minimum staffing. The got the Enterprise to Iconia, and finished his draw deck. We were both decked, the game ended. We both scored 55 points, each with a mission under our belts. True Tie, very entertaining.

Round 4KlingonRomulanMatt KirkFL (-100)
Round 4 - vs CaptMDKirk: Mr Kirk pointed out a deck error I made, by not double-checking the first post of the thread: Missions were supposed to count to the 30 seed card limit. I don't know how my previous opponents didn't notice this! So I had to cut 6 cards from my seed deck quickly. I probably should have cut the Balancing Acts instead of the Ancient Computers, they were useless. Anyway, we had pretty much the same strategy: Travelers and Kivases and Red Alerts. I didn't draw into my Security, so was kinda stuck waiting for the whole game. Mr Kirk attempted his Romulan Outpost mission of Secret Salvage. TPS/REM/Cytherians worked to a point, but a well-timed Wormhole and discard of STP got him the 15 points very quickly, and he got back to one of his Outposts pretty quickly to solve the REM. 25 bonus points + 30 point mission took him to 55. Here I personnel dumped, but without Security I was a little worried about Everyone Dying. Note to self: need more Security. Here he got back to Secret Salvage and got the points for solving the mission. Mr Kirk sent a Scout Vessel to redshirt Lonka Pulsar, hit his own Cytherians. While the Scout was out running errands, a Klingon ship (with Romulans and Klingons aplenty) attempted Covert Rescue. Balancing Act was useless, as it has been all tournament, Crystalline Entity just served to score him points (+5=60), Shaka was easily passed and Q stopped him. At this point I should have attempted a mission but didn't. Next turn Covert Rescue was solved (+30=90) and the Scout Vessel hit the end of the spaceline (+15=105). Good quick game.
