Introduction

Round 1VidiianDaniel MattesonFL (-65)
Round 1 - vs OKCoyote: Mr Coyote was playing Vidiian, which was really nice spaceline-wise, as I could strategically place my missions next to each other. I went first, and as he was playing with DQ I could get away with a bit extra Turn 1 downloading. Played Turrell and Surprise Party, DH'd Leyton Founder, Shape-Shift DL'd him into O'Brien Founder, DL'd Homefront and ASP'd Derell. His first turn he played Fennim, Thaden, Traveler Transcendence, then DH'd Penk. I grabbed General Quarters. My third turn I played my Traveler, and got O'Brien to Strategic Base and Ultimatumed a Remote Supply Depot for the draws and the Equipment downloads. Mr Coyote attempted, blasted past Impressive Trophies and Hanonian Land Eel, losing 7 points to The Higher The Fewer. At that point he couldn't solve. Damn! Put Lack Of Prep under the wrong mission... I got Krajensky Founder and the Espionage: Dominion on Federation out. I returned some Founders to Earth, moved the ship away again, and redshirted with 3 Founders. Chula: The Game took them out of commission as they were lacking Greed. Mr Coyote solved Liberation, taking him from -7 to 23. He moved to a Space mission. Armus Energy Field stopped him. His next turn, he failed the same dilemma again, as he was now checking for a different skill. With the Founders back in action, I reattempted Earth and hit Combo Scow. No females were there at that point. Mr Coyote passed Energy Field, and Chula The Chandra stopped a bunch of people after selecting One. The bad thing about that is that One shared the skills to get past The Cloud... he solved Study Protonebula. 35 more points took him to 58. I solved Earth, taking me to 40 points. Mr Coyote played 62nd Rule on his next mission. Lack Of Prep was passed. Berserk Changeling killed One, who was immediately Nanoprobe Resuscitated. Another Away Team arrived, getting stopped by Q. I attempted Clash At Chin'toka. V'ger was defeated by the might of Lam and Krajensky Founder. (+5) The Cloud was wafted away by O'Brien Founder, Bashir Founder, Turrell and Jural. Cytherians hit. Everyone was on the ship. Mission Debriefing was in play. Fennim and two other Away Team members solved Research Phage. I wasn't stocking You Are A Monument. With 62nd Rule, this put him +50 to 108, and me -10 to 35.

Round 2BorgJeremy HuthFL (-100)
Round 2 - vs 9of24: I saw a bunch of the mission called Space being played, and 2 DQ missions. I figured Borg, but I didn't remember that there was an Objective that could scout that mission called Space, so I dumped all of my combos under the 2 DQ space missions. With all my missions quite seriously split up, it was going to be tricky. I got a few folk to Earth eventually, and was taking the Warship from the other end of the spaceline towards Cardassia and then Earth to pick some people up. Mr Of 24 got to the AQ, built an Outpost, and Harnessed Particle 010 there, quite uneventfully (+30). Then he did the same again at the next mission along (+60, to 90 points). I finally got an Espionage card out on Earth, and redshirted with 5 Founders. Horta killed Bashir. Land Eel killed O'Brien. Knowing I'd forget the Horta kill at the end of the turn, we randomly selected there and Leyton bit the dust. I sent everyone from the Warship down to attempt Bajor. Picking Up The Pieces stopped Kira and Lam, and let Odo Founder continue. Flim-Flam Artist found not enough Computer Skill, but a Founder Architect with Law (and 16 Events on Table). Last up: Dead End. Oh well. Mr Huth probed for his last HP010 and completed, +60 points taking him to 150 and the win. That was pretty entertaining! Final score: 150-0 to 9of24.

Round 4 - vs Gumbo: When Gumbo threw down Inversion Mystery and Study Protonebula, I wondered if he might be playing Borg. He could easily have been playing Kazon or Hirogen paired with Non-Aligned. As it was, he was playing Hirogen/Non-Aligned, plus some extra Achievement goodness. I endorse Achievement goodness. I started, and had a pretty nice opening hand. Played Traveler, DH'd for Leyton and Shape-shifted him for O'Brien (in hand), got Homefront. Offered to ASP, General Quarters was flipped. Mr Hoskin got himself a Mirror Image. I got Surprise Party out on Turn 2, and dropped 3 Founders on Earth. Never saw any of the Bajoran Founders in the game. My only RRD of the game, I spent on Mission Debriefing. He got to attempting first, at Liberation. Lack Of Prep and Berserk Changeling missed, but Q stopped him. His next turn, he solved with 1 Mission Specialist for 35 points. Moving across to a Space mission, Gumbo attempted there. Armus: Energy Field hit 2 ships, stopping Penk and Lansor. Chula: The Chandra was next. One continued. The Cloud hit. I attempted Abduction Plot. The Clown: My Festival was first. I had 11 people. Founder Agitator had 2 Integrity, Founder Architect had 12. The Higher The Fewer hurt a bit, though. Chula: The Abyss grabbed 1e Jasad, 2e Jasad, and Leyton Founder, who were fine. Solved the mission, +35=24. Gumbo solved Inversion Mystery, hitting 70 points. I got my Espionage out for Earth, and threw everyone from the Keldon Advanced at it (had considered throwing just a few, which might have been better). Had a crew on the Breen Warship that wasn't doing much at the moment. Edo Probe was first, I continued. Chula: Trickery caught Leyton Founder, I guessed the wrong Founder. Down to 14 points. Gumbo tried to Assist Co-Operative. Impressive Trophies and Land Eel were blown right past. Losing 14 points to The Higher The Fewer had to hurt, though. The 40 points for the solve only took him to 96. I redshirted Bashir, Leader and Agitator, who were stopped by The Game. I redshirted Krajensky, Leyton and Ulani, who solved (and were stopped by Mission Debriefing). This took me to 54 points. I sent the Breen Warship to redshirt Chin'toka. First Up was Bitter Medicine. Mr Hoskin made a stab in the dark and guessed Exobiology, which hit Derell. Next up was Beneath The Mask. With no Lower Decks, Lam and a War Roomed Jural could only total 21. Gumbo threw 8 people at Transport Colonists. He blew through the Impressive Trophies/Land Eel combo again, losing only 8 points to The Higher The Fewer. (-8=88). Then he solved. (+35=123). Good game. I think the separate spacelines even helped the enjoyment (unusual, perhaps). Final score: Gumbo 123, me 54. I'd lost 21 points over the course of the game, he'd lost 22.
