Round 1 | | bunz | FL (-15) |
Round 1 - vs Bunz:
Bunz seeded the Romulan/Klingon Treaty, and seeded three outposts on my half of the spaceline. Not knowing about mis-seeding (and therefore impressed by the number of dilemmas I'd seemingly managed to seed under his missions), he seeded 3 or 4 dilemmas under my Planets, and fewer (from 1 to 3) under my space missions. He stole my Test Propulsion Systems (only Outpost Raid under it, no Outpost there) and Mineral Survey (Anaphasic, FLI with no Females, Phased Matter and Varon-T Disruptor) before I had the skills for them out. (+50). He Scanned his Repair Mission, finding a decent combo under there, before realising that he didn't have any Federation folk, therefore any way of attempting it. He had a couple of Scans and Palor Toffs, so he Scanned 3 of his Space missions (he was running 4 like I was). He didn't Scan the one with Rishon Uxbridge, Red Alert, F/K Treaty and Eyes In The Dark under it. I Overloaded his Varon-T Disruptor.
I sent a bunch of folk to Explore Black Cluster. Make Us Go took Monty Scott, and Unscientific Method killed Varel. I solved the mission (+35).
Next turn I got Monty Scott back. I played a Distortion Field on Daniel's Establish Relations, it didn't really do anything, then got Converged.
Bunz attempted my Establish Relations, passing Anaphasic (no females), Phased Matter (the usual way), Chalnoth (strength) and Armus Sticky Situation (costing the life of Jaron). He solved the mission (+25 +5 for Chalnoth =80).
Bunz needed to get a ship past my "fleet" (Vor'Cha) to get to his missions. He used his Darmok, and was wondering whether it was worth attacking me when he landed on my space, ultimately deciding not to. I played the Enterprise, got the Vor'Cha to the outpost, crewed the Enterprise then back again, Weapons 16 to the Darmok's shields of 7, the Vor'cha getting damaged and the Darmok and its crew taking a little visit to the discard pile.
I attempted one of my remaining missions, Investigate Anomaly. Hippocratic Oath took Suna away, then I failed Outpost Raid (one of my Outposts was there) by a large margin. Nu'Daq (essential for the solve) and Simon Tarses (useful for FGC-47) died (this was my second Youth to die, I had 2 more in deck).
After I got Suna back, I downloaded Reflection Therapy to get another Exobiology for the solve (+30 =65). Bunz was trying to save up a crew for attempting his Investigate Incursion, which he had Scanned, I was waiting for my last Youth so I could solve my last mission (which would take me to 95 points - and no way to use the Particle Fountain that had been sitting in my hand most of the game). In the end, he drew out his last card without managing to do anything, then I drew out my last card (the other Youth I needed for FGC-47).
Bunz therefore won the double deck-out, 80 to my 65. Good game! |

Round 2 | | Johan Skoglund | FL (-65) |
Round 2 - vs Scox:
We had the standard lots-of-turns-just-playing-cards. I foolishly played everyone at the Romulan Outpost, which was on FGC-47 Research. I had the Darmok in my opening hand, but no Non-Aligned to staff the thing with. It took me a while to draw into another ship, the USS Enterprise.
Scox therefore attempted first, taking his Darmok over to Repair Mission. He had a bunch of unique people out, Hide And Seek stopped Ro and L'Kor (I think that's the best that dilemma has ever done for me) before hitting a Suna. Null Space had taken out one of the two occurrences of the Navigation skill, so damaged the Darmok.
Scox played the first of two Subspace Warp Rifts. He reattempted witht he damaged Darmok and hit an Abandon Ship. Suna and N'Vek stayed, with Tebok, Farek, Ro and L'Kor stuck on a pretend escape pod. We realised Abandon Ship didn't actually stop Suna and N'Vek, so they faced the terrible awesome last dilemma. Treaty Federation/Klingon. They passed this, but naturally couldn't solve the mission.
Scox Spacedoored for a Runabout, but didn't have a Fed around to staff it yet. He got an Exocomp out and rescued his folk. He attempted his Establish Relations. Male's Love Interest sent Dr Farek directly to Mineral Survey, do not pass Go. Punishment Zone lucked into Ro Laren, the only Fed in the Away Team attempt. She was allowed to die. Microvirus was cured by Suna, giving Scox the first points of the game (+5). Hologram Ruse put a dent in his plans for now.
Here I played the Enterprise. I moved from FGC past Test Propulsion Systems (mine)
to Investigate Anomaly (Fed Outpost). I attempted. Espionage Fed on Klingon did nothing, IP Creatures was cured by Taurik, I passed Microbiotic Colony, and Abandon Ship did nothing. I moved Nu'Daq from his hiding place on the Outpost, for the first solve of the game (+30).
Scox passed Hologram Ruse and solved Establish Relations (+25 =30). He moved on to Impose Order and attempted. Impassable Door was, as usual, eminently passable. Armus Sticky killed Tebok ("Romulan Gul Dukat"). Male's Love Interest sent N'vek to join Farek (hopefully for a double-date). Chalnoth was failed, I chose Maques ("the other Diplomacy") for a discard pile getaway.
Not having Youth out for FGC, and not having a universal ship out that I could use for Test Propulsion Systems, I headed to Mineral Survey. I had the skills for that. I attempted. Wormhole did nothing, Worshiper stopped me.
Scox played another Subspace Warp Rift, at Investigate Anomaly. I had a Convergence in hand, but was saving it til I needed it. I didn't get round to needing it.
I resumed the Mineral attempt, passing Anaphasic Organism, but short an Engineer for Alien Labyrinth.
Scox got out Monty Scott to join the Exocomp, then a replacement Computer Skill, then solved Repair Mission (+35 =65).
I played Distortion Field on Impose Order, then attempted Test Propulsion Systems. Empathic Echo did nothing (no empaths), Plasma Fire was a mis-seed, Hide And Seek was the first card randomly selected from the crew so stopped no-one, Make Us Go took Taurik away. I had Darmok out but no Non-Aligned to fly it, and no other universal ships out (and the Spacedoor was inconveniently elsewhere).
I played and retrieved Ben Maxwell, and got Taurik back.
I played Toq (a Youth!) and attempted FGC. Ship Seizure and Captain's Log were there only for intimidation, Unscientific Method killed Tarus. I got points for Cosmic String Fragment, I had 4 people with Navigation (+5 =35). All I needed now was another Youth, another Engineer and a Non-Aligned dude or a different universal ship.
I drew into Suna, who could potentially kill two birds with one stone.
Scox solved Impose Order and won the game (+35 =100).
Good game, pretty close, the mis-seeding were fun.
Final score: Scox FW 100, me 35. |

Round 3 | | Niall Matthew | FL (-20) |
Round 3 - vs Sexecutioner:
Niall was running with the Fed/Rom Treaty, and only had the Husnock Outpost. Probably quite a few mis-seeds. He had 4 Planet missions, which was ideal to me.
Niall attempted first. Impassable Door was passed by Varel, and Microvirus by Jaron and Calloway (+5). Ferengi Attack was passed by Gorta. The less said about Rishon Uxbridge, the better. The mission was not solved at this point. Next turn he summoned up enough Integrity to solve Establish Relations (+25 =30).
I played my first ship "It's the Enterprise!", and I started to move it but it was hit by a Loss Of Orbital Stability, delaying it a turn. I drew a handy Youth (Toq), but had to pitch it because of a Subspace Schism.
Niall grabbed a Darmok with a Spacedoor, and attempted another mission.
Make Us Go took Gorta, Hippocritical Oath took Suna away (2 missions away), not sure whether FGC-47 counted as 6 span so we sent him the other way.
Unscientific Method killed Varel, but there was still enough Cunning to discard it.
Red Alert! sucks as a dilemma.
The mission was not solved at this point.
I attempted Explore Black Cluster. Hide And Seek was first. Dukath was first selected, so got stopped. Shaka was second, I was lacking Diplomacy.
At this point (on my next turn), Niall Rogue Borged me. His turn, I Rogue Borged him back.
Niall solved Test Propulsion Systems (+25 =55).
I got Suna, then Fed Padd out.
I attempted my own Test Propulsion Systems. Unscientific Method killed Tarus. Nagilum was narrowly beaten with Strength (+5). We got through Yridian Shuttle and IKC Buruk unscathed. Being in the Enterprise, I couldn't solve.
Niall played Atmospheric Ionization on Mineral Survey. Hippocratic Oath went away and Niall rescued Suna. Reflection Therapy gave Calloway Navigation (in exchange for her Youth). He attempted Repair Mission.
Hide And Seek stopped Gorta. Frame Of Mind picked Mickey D, who gained Barbering and FCA. Having failed to stop either of the Navigation folk, the crew blasted through Null Space (+5 =60). Abandon Ship then did nothing also.
He was short on the skills to solve.
I solved Test Propulsion Systems (+25 =30).
I went to Investigate Anomaly (perhaps a mistake at that point).
Make Us Go took Monty Scott. Microbiotic Colony was got through. Abandon Ship did nothing. Future Enterprise crashed and burned (must have been Troi at the helm). Yridian Shuttle landed on top of it.
I used Reflection Therapy to change Dukath's Archaeology to Exobiology and solved (+30 =60).
I drew my Exobiology dude (Nu'Daq).
Niall threw people at another mission. Male's Love Interest sent Eric Pressman to my Establish Relations. Punishment Zone selected Kareel Odan, and Niall took the point hit (-10 =50).
Hologram Ruse was passed (alas, I didn't have Barash in play).
That mission was also not solved.
I had the skills for Mineral Survey, so I went over there to attempt. Kevin Uxbridge Converged on that location, dissipating t he Atmospheric Ionization.
2 Targs and a Tricorder later, I hit a Hidden Entrance and passed it.
I solved the mission (+25), and played a Particle Fountain on it (+5 =90).
Niall solved the cleared-out Covert Installation (+35 =85).
I threw everyone at Establish Relations, to clear it out. Alidar Jarok was killed by a Sticky Armus (still short on Diplomacy), then Scotty was picked by Punishment Zone. I took the point hit for that one (-10 =80). Male's Love Interest took Thei deep into enemy territory. Impassable Door again failed to live up to its name.
I sent some Klingons to beat up Eric Pressman, who Niall then Res-Qd.
I played the Vor'Cha and sent the Enterprise to attack the Pi, which I damaged.
Niall played a D'deridex, for safety.
I played the Oberth, but only because I had nothing better to play.
Niall got the Engineers over to Repair Mission to solve it (+35 =120).
The card on top of my deck (now 5 cards left) was my first Diplomacy (I needed one to complete 2 missions, and 2 to get past a dilemma at the third).
Fun game, felt pretty close!
Final score: 120 to Mr Cutioner, 80 to me. |
