Introduction

Round 1ByeBY (0)
Round 1 - vs SAM2000: Our free times didn't match up, and then he withdrew from the tournament.

Round 2CardassianKenneth TuftsFL (-100)
Round 2 - vs Sir Kenneth of the Tufts: Actually my first game of the tournament. Ken was running TNG Cardassians, which was neat. He paired it with Scientific Diplomacy, and lived mostly in the Bajor and Cardassia regions. I had no free plays ont he first turn, so played a Surprise Party and DHd for Razik. My next turn I played Ril and The Traveler Transcendence (the latter was in my opening hand) and downloaded Telek, Rabek and Equinox Doctor, and SDd a Medical Kit, triggering Ken's Containment Field. Ken attempted first, at Veytan, hitting a "Pup" then Abandon Ship. This took out all the non-Cardies, ending the mission attempt. I got the Triplets and downloaded One. I sent a redshirting crew to Study Protonebula, and attempted. Strict Dress Code killed Karden, leaving Ril to face Dead End. Ken played Secure Homeworld on Cardassia, and reattempted Host Metaphasic Shielding Test. He failed The Cloud. WooHoo! He had rescued the folk on Abandon Ship, and solved the mission (+40, then +6 for a removed Dr. Christopher). He attempted Cardassia and hit Horta, killing Corak, Murasaki Effect, damaging the unstaffed Supply Ship (the Reklar was sitting damaged from the Cloud), and got stopped by Founder Secret. I attempted Restock Supplies, didn't pass Shaka. Ken cleared the Founder Secret, then solved Cardassia Prime (+35 =81). I sent a bunch of people to Reinitialize Warp Reaction, hit Precision Piloting, then realised no Navigation were in play. Karden had died earlier, of course, and still earlier Rulat had been discarded from a Ref-cycled Containment Field. Ken attempted Kressari Rendezvous. First up was The Clown: My Festival, but Ken was unable to drum up anyone with Integrity of 18, so he was shut down for the turn. I sent everyone to Collect Omicron Particles, and was shut down by another Shaka. Just one Diplomacy in play. Regrouping, Ken got through The Clown: My Festival, having a universal Cardassian enhanced by Lower Decks busting through with 9 Integrity. Paralyzed By Fear stopped him and 5 other people, leaving 3 to be killed by Subspace Fracture. Another crew came over and solved, discarding an Equipment to make the mission 30 points, ending the game with 111 points. This was a really fun game, with our respective dilemma encounterings seeming particularly hilarious (plus getting the Obelisk out, right when he was needing to use a ship). Ken pointed out that his dilemmas were the worst ones for my deck to face: they being Diplomacy drain and my having only 3 Diplo in deck. Final score: Ken got a well-deserved 111, I got a big round 0.

Round 3 - vs Kaiser: I had major suckiness of drawing into draw engines, I used Surprise Party for maybe one turn, and used one Handshake. Kaiser was playing a Cardassian/Dominion Treaty deck in the Alpha Quadrant. It was geared to be a ship battle deck, which didn't work because of the Quadrant stuff. He also pulled out a General Quarters pretty early, which slowed things down a little. Johannes was the first to attempt. He hit a Horta, which killed Hogan, Murasaki Effect damaged his Jem'Hadar Warship (only 2 people on it), but he had enough people and guns remaining to blast through the Founder Secret, and solve the Siege Of AR-558. (+40, +5 for Victory Is Life). He didn't beam up this turn, losing somebody to Horta in order to avoid losing someone to Murasaki. I sent the Raider across the spaceline to pick up One. Study Protonebula was one of the two missions with only 2 dilemmas under it. I redshirted with Tierna and One, and hit a dead End. I sent the Warship to Collect Omicron Particles (the other mission with 2 dilemmas) and attempted. Scout Encounter got the Vidiian Scout, but Kaiser found it not worth attacking. Next up was Gomtuu Shock Wave. No Diplomacy or Law. Two folk out of the three died from Tactics, and the damaged Warship went back to Liberation. I did have Culluh in play, but never drew into the other Diplomacy or the Law. I am the Law. Kaiser's forces beamed up, losing someone to Murasaki. They were saved by an ETU. They attempted at Clash At Chin'Toka. Lack Of Prep was passed, Chula The Chandra selected Derell, who happens to have just the skills needed for Linguistic Legerdemain. The mission was not solved at that point, but it got solved somewhere along the way (+35 =80). Somewhere around here, rather desperate for draws and Diplomacy, I Handshook the Holodeck Doors and Doctor Not A Bricklayer, drew into some Kivases, and Masakaed them away because I hadn't got the Diplomacy yet. Didn't work. Kaiser sent his minions to Attack At Rare Phenomenon. Topological Anomaly 4747 stopped one dude, Macrovirus killed Mavek, Ankari Spirits killed Turrell (Joret Dal was saved by an ETU). With 3 people a turn potentially dying to the dilemmas, Kaiser STPd his ship to hand. This point is where I got Surprise Party out. I threw people at Restock Supplies. Denevan Neural Parasites selected 4 of the 7, I saved one with the Kazon Disruptor. Sleeper Trap pulled 3 Cardassians and a Disruptor Rifle, the Cardies enhanced by Lower Decks, the Rifle, and the Disruptor that Goran downloaded. The battle happened, only one person died. I should have brought everyone left on Voyager over and attempted, I would have got through the dilemma and solved the mission. As it was, I played it safe. Kaiser solved Attack At Rare Phenomenon and won (+35 =115). Good game. Think I need President Of Earth in with the downloadable holograms. Final score: Kaiser's 115 to my 000.

Round 4Non-AlignedJohn Paul VeaseyFL (-1)
Round 4 - vs elveez: Mr Veasey was playing Followers Of The One, with a hint of Romulan backup. He didn't have any Ref cards on my first turn (he went first), so I downloaded Razik, Rabek, Telek R'Mor and Equinox Doctor. Mwahahaha. Of course, Telek and One were in my opening hand... John-Paul attempted first, at Foster New Collective. Horta killed Patahk. Next up was Murasaki. Founder Secret stopped the remaining few. I played Corez and Masakad One. Who I promptly downloaded with the Fighter I'd sent over to Study Protonebula (a long, long way away). Elveez used A Missing Day on Murasaki Effect (-5), and saved his remaining Away Team. I threw a microteam at Restock Supplies. First up was Lack Of Preparation. I was convinced I didn't have the skills, but Corez and Karden came through for me. Hanonian Land Eel had the choice to eat Corez or Rabek, he ate Corez. The Borg and Androids bust through Founder Secret and solved Foster New Collective (+35 =30). He threw four folk at Amnesty Taks, they were ALL stopped by Topological Anomaly 4747. I like that dilemma. Not quite being ready to face the Eel, I sent the remaining redshirters to the other side of Liberation: Collect Omicron Particles. The Arsenal Separated. Stopped my unique, my universal dude couldn't beat the cunning. Back at Amnesty Talks, the crew slowly got wiped out by Macrovirus and Ankari Spirits. I sent more people, including some Holos, on Voyager at Omicron Particles. Rabek, Karden, Mona Luvsitt and Hogan passed the Arsenal. The Chandra picked Mona, she and Karden failed the language test. 3 turns. Elveez solved Amnesty Talks with a Mission Specialist (+40 =70). I considered sending people to redshirt Reinitialize Warp Reaction, which would have been a Really Good Move. I sent a bunch of people back to Restock Supplies. Beat the Land Eel (40 Strength on 6 people, plus 5 strength each from the disruptors). Denevan Neural Parasites was next, I let Rabek die. I solved Restock Supplies (+35). I sent folk to Reinitialize Warp Reaction and hit an Edo Probe. well played, sir. He sent folk to Revenge Plot and attempted. He got through Lack Of Prep. The Chandra hit Third Of Five. A lot of people shared the Cunning of 7, but were boosted by Lower Decks to not continue. Tagus and Suna continued, and failed Linguistic Legerdemain. 4 turns! I got the Borg triplets out. I threw people at Liberation. Got through New Essentialists and Forsaken, was stopped by Q Gets The Point. He cured his Zalkonian Vessel of the Macrovirus and Ankari Spirits, and sent people on to face Paxan Wormhole. Pup got nullified by the multitudes of Computer Skill, so Abandon Ship did nothing. The Cloud, however, hit. I threw a couple of Majes and a couple of other folk at Liberation, got through Q Gets The Point, and solved (+35 =70). Edo Probe out of the way, I reattempt the Warp Reaction. Got through Aggressive Behavior, nothing gets through The Whale Probe. I knew it was risky, but I threw a solving crew at Omicron, Linguistic having counted down, Elveez got In The Zone so I only got 15 points counting towards winning (=85), 20 points not counting. My next turn I solved Warp Reaction (+35 =120), but at the end of his last turn he'd got You Are A Monument. 4 dilemmas being under Answer Distress Signal, I sent the solving crew from Omicron over to Protonebula, and attempted. Got through Hazardous Duty, lost 5 points when a non-Officer died to Ankari Spirits. (-5 =115). He downloaded a ship to get a solving crew to Paxan Wormhole (the Linguistic hadn't finished counting down on Revenge Plot). +35 =105 and game. Good game, fun, bit un-fond of those Ref cards. But hey, it's not like I didn't know there was the possibility of them being in the deck. Final score: I lose with 115 (technically 135) points, Elveez won with 105.
