Always Needed

First Edition Balance Team Members

Earlier this year, I announced the Balance Team, a new restructuring of the Errata Team to better focus on the health of the game. Now, Balance Team Leads Dan Hamman (SirDan) and Jason Robinette (JasonRed3) are prepared to recruit their staff and begin the hard work of digging into the game's health.

As a volunteer on the Balance Team, you will be tasked with monitoring the play environment of First Edition. While a focus will be placed on tournament and high-level play, volunteers will also need to be aware of lower-level events and casual play. The team will identify issues and potential issues and discuss solutions, including possible rules changes, cards bans, errata, and potential new card designs. Each volunteer on the team will serve a term of 12-18 months, then take a break before being eligible to serve again. By having a rotating staff, we hope to ensure fresh perspectives and energy to make sure the team is connected to the community.

To apply, fill out the short Google Form here:

Balance Team Application

The application form asks for some brief demographic information and for you to provide some explanation on your point of view on the current game. The Continuing Committee and the Department of First Edition are committed to geographic diversity, so candidates from outside of North America are highly encouraged to apply. Dan and Jason will be looking for a wide range of skill levels, participation levels, and diverse points of view in order to build a team that can well-represent the community of players.

Applicants will be contacted directly by either Dan or Jason for follow up. Applications will remain open indefinitely, as we will be constantly rotating the staff and looking for more volunteers.

Currently Hiring

Australian Organized Play Coordinator

Similar to the work done by Michael and Julius on their respective continents, the Australian OP Coordinator will serve as the point person for all of the various casual and high-level tournaments played in Australia. The ideal candidate will play all of the games - First Edition, Second Edition, and Tribbles - although this is not a hard requirement. More importantly, this volunteer should be active in the local community by playing and / or running tournaments on a fairly regular basis. Bonus points if the applicant has a willingness to demo the game(s) to new players, or is already doing so. As the eyes and ears of Organized Play for Australia, this individuals' primary duties will be to handle the logistics of scheduling the various Regional, National, and Continental Championships. If you are interested in applying or have any questions, please send me a PM on the forums.
